Michael Koch founded his firm in 2003 after ten years of working in a variety of architecture firms.  Upon graduating from Yale University in 1996 with a Masters in Architecture, Michael has built a career balancing his designer’s eye with his real world attention to detail.  His portfolio of projects shows a wide range from large commercial projects to small residential additions.  Throughout his career, Michael’s attention to detail and ability to facilitate the design process add a distinctive value to the making of architecture.  He values service to the client equally with design quality and understands that the process of making buildings is as important as the end result.

In its early years, MKA developed a market niche in several building types:  Parking Structures, Historic Residential Remodels, and Commercial Tenant finish.  That client base has expanded recently to include a institutional and school clients, with more complex and interesting projects.

Michael is a sole proprietor and takes on all the roles of the traditional architecture firm.   While he has access to contract staff, Michael is the Principal in charge of the work at MKA.

Michael received his Bachelor of Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis and a Masters in Architecture from Yale University.  Before founding the firm he worked for David Owen Tryba Architects, Cesar Pelli and Associates, and HOK Architects on a wide variety of civic and institutional projects.
